Corsica has been described as ‘a French island basking in Italian sun’ and we think you’ll see why. The island itself is situated in the heart of the Mediterranean, about 100 miles from the French Riviera and about 50 miles from Italy. Corsica has both French and Italian influences, yet still retains its own distinct character.
Last year we did a combined Sardinia / Corsica tour, but decided this year that we would split the two destinations and spend a little extra time on each island. We have also changed the hotel location to a much quieter and more relaxing part of the west coast. We are also going in late May so that we have a more comfortable temperature to ride in.
After the short hop across the channel to Calais, we head for the station and load the bikes onto the motorail destined for the south of France. We then board the sleeper train ourselves and relax in our own overnight compartments. We awake in Nice, take breakfast, and then ride to the harbour and board the ferry for our crossing to the wonderful island of Corsica - there you are...got there in one day! (and a bit).
Our hotel boasts panoramic views, especially over the peninsular of "Scandola" which dominates the gulf of Porto and the Mediterranean. All rooms are air-conditioned with Satellite TV, hairdryers, mini-bar, and all have a balcony or terrace with a view of the gulf.
Here we stay for 5 nights allowing us plenty of time to explore the island and it’s many rugged coves, ancient villages, silver-sand beaches, mountainous interior and absolutely fantastic biking roads. Visit Ajaccio, Napolean’s birthplace, Bonafacio or Calvi - it doesn’t matter - there’s plenty to do and there’s history everywhere!
In the evenings it’s time to enjoy some serious food and wine, over looking the sea, with the best of company, in our wonderful Mediterranean setting.

There will be no support vehicle on this tour due to the constraints of the Motorail service. Please be aware that you must carry your own luggage throughout the trip. Alternative ferry crossings will not be practical as we take the motorail from Calais.
