Come to France's most sparkling region!
To start our touring season, we make the most of the Bank Holiday weekend and discover a part of Europe that’s not too far away. Located in north-eastern France, the Champagne region is best known as the home of the sparkling white wine: the Champagne. Some 30,000 hectares of Champagne vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see over the rolling hillsides, dotted with picturesque villages.
After our crossing to Calais we ride through the relatively traffic-free D roads of France to begin our stay in this beautiful region of France. Our 3*** hotel is located close to the river Seine and boasts spotless rooms, all with mini-bar, TV and room service - not to mention a heated swimming pool, jacuzzi, fitness suite, and a fantastic restaurant where we will be served wonderful gourmet evening meals. Included here is a visit to a local Chateau and, of course, a Champagne cellar if you wish.
Alternatively, you could just spend your time riding the regions excellent biking roads passing through old villages, forests, vineyards and refreshingly quiet tree-lined country roads. Always worth a visit are Reims (capital of the region and where the Kings of France were once crowned), Epernay, the Orient lakes, or the medieval city of Troyes with it's half-timbered houses. It's probably worth doing a little planning if you want to visit specific places of interest as we are only here for a short time.
As with all our fully supported tours, your luggage is carried for you to the hotel to allow you to fully enjoy your riding.

Important Notes:
On this particular tour, the main party will leave from Dover. The Hull - Zeebrugge * ferry route is available as priced above. Please note, if you choose to depart from Hull you take an overnight crossing and will make your own way to the first hotel to meet up with the main group. This Hull crossing will be booked for the evening of the previous day (i.e. Fri 2nd May 2008), with the return from Zeebrugge booked for the afternoon of the 6th May 2008. This effectively lengthens the duration to 5 nights as you have two (outward & return) overnight crossings. *PLEASE NOTE THIS ON THE BOOKING FORM OR IT WILL BE ASSUMED THAT YOU WISH TO TRAVEL WITH THE MAIN PARTY.
